A press release just landed in our inbox announcing the split between Deep Silver and Yager regarding the development of Dead Island 2.

Yager has yet to say something on the matter, but Deep Silver provided a statement. You can check it out just below:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER.”  Deep Silver, “will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

The game was originally slated or release this Spring, until Deep Silver announced that the game would be delayed till later this year. From that point, we haven’t heard or seen anything regarding Dead Island 2, not even at E3 2015 which obviously spelled bad news for the title.
