The Kickstarter campaign for a Friday the 13th game developed by Gun Media has been launched, with a pledge goal of $700,000 and an estimated delivery of October 2016.

The game, powered by Unreal Engine 4, is directly based off of the popular horror franchise starring the killer Jason Voorhees. The primary pitch for the game is that it is a 1v7 multiplayer game set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake, however the game is slated to have a single player component to it as well based on the performance of the Kickstarter.

The single player component of Friday the 13th: The Game is set to have players experience what it would be like to be chased down by Jason.

To that end, the proposed single player portion will give you the Jason experience you’ve never had; direct through his eyes. We’ll be offering several ‘scenarios’ based off classic movie scenes from the franchise as you stalk and kill each and every counselor from a first person perspective. Not to leave the counselors out, we’ll be adding several counselor scenarios where you’ll have to confront your fears and take on Jason directly, especially in compromising situations! We are not going for anything less than a Mature Rating on this; the franchise deserves it! These scenarios might also make their way to VR, and would bring an entirely new perspective to the slasher genre!

Friday the 13th: The Game is set to release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4, with an estimated release date of October 2016 if the Kickstarter campaign succeeds.

  1. This game doesn’t have a single player mode. Why is it being discussed on this website?

    1. If it reaches a certain stretch goal it will have a single player component according to the KS Page. This will be the only story on the topic until that goal is reached.

      1. I see. Wasn’t aware of the stretch goal. Thanks for clarifying, Nick.

        1. You bet! Probably should have been noted in this story anyways ;)
