So it should come as a surprise to learn that a video game with heavy anime and manga shades to it art-wise is being developed by a French studio. But that’s exactly the case with Shiness, an RPG in development by Enigami. To be published by Focus Home Interactive, Shiness got a nice new trailer today for Gamescom.

Published on the Focus Home Interactive Youtube channel, you can view the trailer below at the bottom of this post.

Shiness centers around the journey of Chado and his four other companions. When their flying airship crash lands on one of the most dangerous of the celestial islands they were traveling amongst, the group of five finds themselves caught up in a multi-kingdom conflict. Luckily, Chado’s newfound ability to communicate with and perceive the Shiness, a spirit that possesses powerful magic, may yet help bridge the rift among the kingdoms.

The trailer shows off Shiness’s unique art style, hyper-dynamic combat system that mashes up magic and classic mechanics from fighting games, and its sprawling and expansive environments that make the game part-open-world.

You can also only get access to some upgrades and customizations, and change Chado and his companions’ reputation(s), when you complete certain main and side-quests.

Shiness is due out sometime in 2016 for as-yet-unannounced platforms.
