11 bit studios, the developer of this year’s brutal city builder Frostpunk, has outlined the content it plans to cascade out in the coming months.
Following positive sales figures, the team declared that a flurry of free content would follow. In the form of a roadmap, embedded below, the developer revealed the details of this free DLC, including new maps, modes, and scenarios.
The updates will include Survivor and Endurance modes, which look to be unique challenges that extend upon Frostpunk‘s already punishing toolkit. A new scenario, entitled ‘The Builders’, will bring a new origin state to the game, with further customisation options and a ‘Winter Snapshots’ update also on the horizon. The Survivor mode will be coming this month, with the rest of Frostpunk‘s additions coming sometime this year.
On top of all these content expansions will also be technical patches to work on the title. Frostpunk was already in pretty good shape on release, so further technical patches will likely improve top-end performance and iron out any small issues. All of the content listed will be free, with 11 bit studios stating that more content is planned for 2019:
Frostpunk has enjoyed great success since release, with the title debuting as the top-selling game globally on Steam. The game impressed OnlySP’s Damien Lawardorn on release, with the game balancing city-building play with nihilistic concerns.
