Following a successful E3 last month, developer Creative Assembly today released the first in-engine-rendered cinematic trailer for their video game adaptation of the beloved tabletop Warhammer franchise, Total War: Warhammer.

The Youtube trailer, which you can watch below, is the first of several trailers that will put the spotlight on the Legendary Lords of the game. Each Lord is taken directly from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world, and can be selected in-game to lead their respective armies. Various special abilities, weapons, armour, mounts and distinct narrative quest chains make each Lord unique in their own right.

In this trailer, the head of the Empire, Emperor Karl Franz, is preparing his army to square off with the bloodthirsty Greenskins. Entitled The Battle of Black Fire Pass, this is one of Karl Franz’ unique quest battles in Total War: Warhammer. The entire battle, and a developer walkthrough, is scheduled to be released in just two weeks’ time on Thursday 30th July.

If you read my article with my impressions of the game from E3, you would know that this trailer sets up the behind-closed-doors hands-off live demo of the game we were shown during the expo.
