There are many who say that the Final Fantasy series is past its heyday, and so are anticipating the HD remasters of the tenth main entry and its direct sequel with greater enthusiasm than they are either Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XV. With the compilation first being announced in September 2011 it has been a long wait for those fans, but Square-Enix has today announced a finalised release date for it.

The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will release on the 18th of March, 2014 in North America, and three days later in Europe for the PlayStation 3. At this point, no date has been set for the PlayStation Vita version of the title, though it surely will not be too far behind.

In conjunction with this shiny new release date, Square-Enix has also released a new four-and-a-half minute gameplay trailer titled “Saving Spira”, which you can check out below.
