The recently released Role Playing Game from Square Enix, Final Fantasy Type 0 HD, has shipped over one million copies worldwide, being released for the first time on Xbox One and PS4.

The game is accompanied by the exclusive demo for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XV, which shows off a small section of the game, which we have previously seen in trailers.

The possibility to play, albeit a small section, of FFXV, was an extra incentive for a lot of gamers eager to see a resurgence for the Final Fantasy series, which had a lackluster showing last generation.

Originally Type 0 was released in Japan only, on the PlayStation Portable back in 2011, but has since received a high-definition port to current generation consoles, released on the 17th of March this year.

Remasters and HD releases, although often criticized by gamers seeking new IPs for current gen consoles the PS4 and Xbox One, have seen large success, including the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition also published by Square Enix.

These sales are part of a small rebound for Square Enix, who has seen success in recent titles including their reboot of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, Tomb Raider, and has just announced a sequel to Dues Ex: Human Revolution, as reported by OnlySP recently.

Whether Square Enix will be able to continue this trend in the future, with FFXV possibly releasing later this year, is important, not only for the Final Fantasy series, but also for the Japanese console game industry as a whole.

Below is a trailer for Final Fantasy XV showing some story details and new gameplay elements for the Final Fantasy series.
