Square Enix have revealed that Final Fantasy XV is now “playable from start to finish”. On top of this, the first half of the game also appears to be completely finished.
The popular JRPG franchise is now on its fifteenth flagship title, with a solid release date still yet to be revealed. The game has gone through many changes in its extended development time since work on began in 2006, including a name change from Final Fantasy Versus XIII and many reported story changes while keeping to the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries, along with FFXIII and FF Type-0.
Speaking on official Japanese forums for the game, Satoshi Kitade, a programmer for the game said the following (translated from Japanese):
“We’re at the point where we can play the game in its entirety from start to finish. From this, everyone on the development team can get an overall view on the game.”
This is wonderful news for fans of the series who seem to have been waiting an extraordinarily long time to get their hands on the game. A demo was released earlier this year, titled Episode Duscae, to give fans a taster as well as a chance to offer feedback on what they would like to see in the final product. Another demo is also in the works to be released before the game’s eventual release, which is scheduled to be sometime in 2016.
