Sony has quite a few mysterious exclusive games up their sleeves, one of which, is the highly anticipated Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture by The Chinese Room.
Luckily for us, it won’t be too much longer now before we see and hear more about the game as The Chinese Room announced a major milestone in the game’s development today as they’ve entered the Alpha stage of development. With the game entering Alpha, The Chinese Room is now focused on hampering out bugs and polishing up the game for Beta and then the final release.
According to the blog post on The Chinese Room’s website, “the world is locked, scenes are locked, we know what is happening where and when and why and how, but there’s a big difference between that “it works” and “it’s a great game”, which is where we all want it to be.”
The blog post also hints at some sort of new AI system that The Chinese Room developed specifically for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, but they aren’t ready to talk about it just yet.
We’ve just wrapped the first instance of a brand new AI system, which I can’t talk about without giving too much away, but together with the effort now going into ambient visual effects is bringing the world to life around us.
The Chinese Room will be going dark on the game again following this latest blog post and will not be attending GDC in March to show off the game to the public. However, they did note that they will return sometime in March to reveal more about the game, so hopefully we’ll finally get to see the game in action at that point and maybe even land an interview with the development team.
