ROCKFISH Games released its space action indie project, Everspace, on May 26, 2017 for PC—via Steam and GOG—and Xbox One alongside some details about the game’s future expansions.

After nine months of availability in Steam Early Access and Xbox Preview, Everspace has finally received a full release for PC and Xbox One. As the game gains momentum with the full release, ROCKFISH Games has confirmed the title will receive ongoing support in the form of extensions (expansions), as well as a release for PlayStation 4 in Q3 2017. With the PlayStation 4 release, all platforms will be given access to the Hardcore Mode—which features perma-death for players who like a challenge after having beaten the game repeatedly. In addition, ROCKFISH Games reports the team will be adding more ships, weapons, and devices for players to add to their arsenal. A story expansion featuring new characters will be added in the future as well.

Players pilot different ships through different sectors while combatting enemies using a variety of weapons, and will equip defensive devices to give players’ ships a wide array of boosts and repairs. The game’s development was funded through Kickstarter and is the most successful game out of Germany to be funded through Kickstarter.

ROCKFISH Games is an independent video game developer based in Hamburg, Germany. Everspace is the company’s debut title released for PC and console. The company used Unreal Engine 4 to develop Everspace. Prior to forming ROCKFISH Games, the team specialized in AAA mobile gaming, but decided to focus on “conquering the PC and console space with innovative and polished high-quality games.”
