Eastshade 1

Eastshade Studios has revealed that its upcoming title Eastshade is now playable from “start to finish.”

Lead developer Danny Weinbaum stated on Twitter that he played through the game from “start to finish for the first time (stopping many times to fix progress impeding bugs),” taking him five hours to do so. However, the playtime includes skipping all of the game’s dialogue and, considering Weinbaum knows where the game’s objectives are placed, the playtime may ultimately be much longer for new players.

Eastshade is a first-person open-world exploration game, currently in development for PC. Players control a painter exploring the eponymous island as they “capture the world on canvas” and “discover mysteries and uncover secrets about the land,” according to the game’s Steam description.

OnlySP’s Andrea Giargiari conducted an interview with lead developer Danny Weinbaum in 2016, wherein Weinbaum detailed the challenge of creating fresh open world experiences.

Rhain discovered a long time ago that mixing one of his passions (video games) with the other (writing) might be a good idea, and now he’s been stuck in the industry for over six years with no means of escaping. His favourite games are those with deep and captivating narratives: while it would take far too long to list them all, some include L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.
