Gamers and critics have been wondering why DICE’s take on Star Wars: Battlefront didn’t include a single player campaign mode for months, and as of today we finally have an answer. In all honesty though, the answer provided isn’t really all that surprising.

The reason EA elected to not include a single player campaign in Star Wars: Battlefront was due to timing. With Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the horizon, EA decided to try and release the game near the movie’s release date for obvious reasons.

“We made [the choice] due to time and being able to launch the game side-by-side with the movie that came out to get the strongest possible impact,” said EA representative Patrick Soderlund.

However, as most of you know the game has received quite a bit of flack for not including options for single player content which EA is quite aware of. With Star Wars: Battlefront 2 already announced for 2017 it’s likely that DICE will include some sort of single player offering in the next game. However, if they do include single player in the next Battlefront, I don’t think it will be the sort of traditional campaign you’re looking for. That’s my gut feeling on the subject.

We’ll keep an eye out for any information regarding a single player campaign in the next Star Wars: Battlefront. Stay tuned to OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is due out in 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
