Were you one of the frustrated gamers that hated EA’s “online pass” for its games? For every new game you purchased you had to enter a code to access certain online content blocked by the online pass. Now, Electronic Arts has heard feedback from its players and has decided to say good riddance to the concept all together. Now, gamers will be able to get the online passes and content for free.
A lot of the content you’ll be able to get are things such as DLC for Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Skate 3 and online passes for Bulletstorm, Medal of Honor, Bad Company 2 VIP, Shift 2 Unleashed and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. So, for future releases EA will not have an online pass with its games. Upcoming releases like FIFA 14 and NHL 14 will not contain an online pass. EA had this to say regarding its measures to remove the online pass.
“As we discontinue Online Pass for our new EA titles, we are also in the process of eliminating it from all our existing EA titles as well,” Reseburg says. “We heard the feedback from players and decided to do away with Online Pass altogether.”
