Apocalypses, of both the zombie and nuclear varieties, have had more than enough attention this generation, and with titles like ZombiU, Human Element, Metro: Last Light, and The Last of Us getting the spotlight at E3, it looks like we’ll still have to survive a few more. At the very least, Deadlight looks to add a slight twist to the concept by being a 2D sidescroller, and a fine-looking one at that.

The gameplay video below details a tutorial segment as well as some gameplay from later levels. Gameplay is a mix of platforming, shooting, and light puzzle-solving all drenched in a nice atmosphere. Keep in mind that a good amount of the protagonist’s voice acting probably hasn’t been done yet, meaning you’ll see a lot of silent dialogue. Still, this looks like one to watch.
