Rumors about Driveclub being delayed were confirmed earlier today in a statement posted on the PlayStation Blog. It appears that the title will not be released alongside the PS4, but a few months later in earlier 2014. Sony Worldwide Studio’s boss Shuhei Yoshida explained.

Driveclub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision – and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations. We understand that the delay is disappointing news, but can assure you that the reason we have made this decision is to ensure that when Driveclub launches, it will realise the next-gen racing vision.”

The silver lining to this story is that PlayStation Plus members will be getting the highly anticipated Contrast from Compulsion Games for free on the PS4 launch day, and that Driveclub will still be free for PS+ members as part of the Instant Game Collection when it releases early next year.
