As we reported WAY back in July, Capcom has been planning some “new play elements” for its massive fantasy RPG Dragon’s Dogma.  Yes, we’re talking about the game that was released WAY back in May of this year.  Well, six months after launch, we’ll finally get our hand on those new elements.

On Dec. 4th, “A Trial for Adventures – Challenge Pack” will be released, free of charge, for the XBox 360 and PS3.  It will unlock two new game modes:  Hard Mode and Speedrun Mode.  Capcom didn’t expand on what these new modes will entail, but the names are fairly self-explanatory.  The update will also include some unlockable equipment (pictured below) as a reward for completing these two modes.

I still have my copy of Dragon’s Dogma, as I still have intentions to go back and grind through all of the side quests.  However, I feel that I am probably in the minority and most folks have probably already sold or traded their copy of the game.  Do you still have Dragon’s Dogma and, if so, do you plan on re-visiting such a massive, time-devouring game in order to complete these new modes?  Let us know your thoughts.

I'm a new dad, gaming machine, and beard aficionado. With a little one in the house, I've come to embrace the single-player experience, as it is much less likely to send me into a profanity-laced, controller-throwing tantrum. Writing and video games are two of my greatest passions, so this is a natural fit for me. As long as it doesn't require me to perform coordinated dance moves in front of my Kinect, i'm willing to pen my thoughts on it. Aside from gaming, I love music (Smashing Pumpkins), coffee (Red-Eye), and sushi (Yellowtail). All offerings of my aforementioned favorites will be accepted with open arms and, if you're lucky, i'll let you touch my beard. Just don't pull on it. That hurts.

  1. Speed run mode? Why do I want to rush through an RPG? My first play through took over 150 hours. What&#039s the goal for Speed run? 100? If it&#039s anything less than 40 or 50 it will be hard. Hard mode could be fun though.

    1. I thought the same thing about the Speedrun Mode, but perhaps the challenge lies in having a character whose been leveled up enough to crush the opposition and keep moving. I haven&#039t seen any specifics as to what the time limit will be, but I agree that anything below 50 or so will be tough.

As for Hard Mode, I&#039m definitely looking forward to that. Taking my already beefed up character into a harder playthrough, along with all the weapons and armor I&#039ve collected, will be a blast.
