To call this a bumpy road would be an understatement. Try ‘road filled with landmines and caltrops.’ Indeed, Bethesda has received a lot of scrutiny and mockery for their inability to bring the initially Xbox 360-exclusive DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to other platforms in a timely and efficient manner. However, it appears they’re finally making it up to fans with a release of the latest DLC, Dragonborn, on PC and PS3 next month, alongside some additional goodies for PS3 fans.

Such is the information provided by their latest blog post:

PC and PS3 fans, prepare to cast off. Next month, you will travel to Solstheim, home of Skyrim’s latest add-on, Dragonborn. PS3 fans can expect an expanded itinerary – with stops at Fort Dawnguard and Castle Volkihar – before heading back to the home of your dreams.

The PC version of Dragonborn will release for the Steam digital platform on Feb. 5, and will support the following languages: “English, French, Italian, Spanish and German.” Expect the price to be set at $19.99.

PS3 players get an even sweeter deal. They’ll get the official 1.8 update for the base game just before the Dragonborn DLC drops, and it’ll be shortly followed by PS3 releases of Dawnguard and Hearthfire, the previous DLC packs for the game. At this point, PS3 is the only platform Dawnguard and Hearthfire have not been released for.

Seemingly as a form of apology, all three DLC add-ons will be available for 50% off their normal price on the week of their respective launches. You can probably expect the base pricing to be the same as that of the Xbox 360 counterparts; $19.99 for Dawnguard and Dragonborn and $4.99 for Hearthfire. Do the math and you’ll find that this will be a great deal for PS3 players if they snag it the week of release, which is more than likely considering how long they’ve been waiting.

Unfortunately, no final dates for the PS3 versions of the content have been announced, though you can expect those to be announced shortly. Also, no retail compilation of the DLC packs has been announced for those of you without internet connections. But then you probably wouldn’t be able to read this post to find that out, would you?

Stay tuned for more news on the PS3 versions of these Skyrim expansions and other upcoming entries in the Elder Scrolls universe.
