Yuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, has confirmed that the 11th entry is currently in development for “the big screen.”
As we near the 30th anniversary for the long-running RPG series in two years, Yuji Horii spoke to Mangaku N Channel SP, a radio show in Japan and confirmed the development of the game. He also mentioned that he wanted it on “the big screen” and added that the next entry will not be coming to mobile devices or portable consoles.
The last single player main line console entry in the series is Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on the PlayStation 2. Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King also recently became available on Google Play Store and App Store. The most recent numbered title, Dragon Quest X is a massively multiplayer online game for the Wii, Wii U, and PC but has not come to Western territories as of the time of writing.
When we hear more on Dragon Quest XI, we will keep you informed.
