The trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ Season 2 was released ahead of its scheduled debut at the grand finals for the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour,  showcasing four of the upcoming six characters.

The trailer, embedded below, opens by showing off Jiren—one of the most powerful adversaries series protagonist Goku has ever faced—with accompanying gameplay. Looking to be a heavy hitting character, Jiren seems to be able to take a few hits while attacking and comes with several counter moves.

The other character featured is Videl, sporting the outfit from when she first appeared in Dragon Ball Z. She fights similarly to Android 18, coupling her own attacks with assistance from a second special character for tag-team attacks. In this case, Videl will be supported by Gohan in his Great Saiyaman persona.

Both characters will be available to download on January 31, although the full season pass is available now for purchase.

In an unexpected turn of events, two more characters were announced, without having gameplay shown.

Broly and Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta will be made available in the coming months.

This development means Dragon Ball FighterZ will have both the canonical and non-canonical versions or Broly, from the Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z movies, respectively. Furthermore, Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta being added means both forms of Goku and Vegeta’s fusion will be in the game at their highest transformations.

Two more characters are blacked out with a question mark in between the pairs. The identities and release dates of these characters are unknown.

The first season pass brought eight characters to the game, while the new pass will give players an additional six.

OnlySP’s Michael Cripe reviewed the game last year, scoring it as a Distinction (4/5) and concluding it to be “the greatest Dragon Ball game ever released.”
