The developer behind the Life is Strange series would like to create a third installment.
In an interview with GameSpot, DONTNOD Entertainment’s Michel Koch and Jean-Luc Cano discussed the possibility of a Life is Strange 3. Koch says that he would personally like to create a new entry, but since the Life is Strange series is owned by Square Enix, the publisher will decide whether or not that happens.
Both developers also commented on whether players will see Max and Chloe or Sean and Daniel, the protagonists of Life is Strange and its sequel respectively, again. Cano noted, “The thing that I can tell you is for us the story of Max and Chloe in Life is Strange 1 is done, it’s told, and the story of Sean and Daniel is told in Life is Strange 2, so, maybe we can see them again one day.”
Koch mentioned that since the player saw a tiny bit of Max and Chloe in Life is Strange 2, a shared universe is confirmed, but each journey is told in full in their respective games.
Additionally, Koch says that the developers enjoy the anthology format of Life is Strange and that having new characters and stories is much more interesting, “So we could also share new scenes and bring something new for the players and just to not, again, have the same ideas and just maybe bring them some new perspective on another story.”
Life is Strange 2 is receiving a physical edition in the US on February 4, 2020, which has been available in the EU since December 3. OnlySP’s Damien Lawardorn says that Life is Strange 2 has one of the most powerful video game storytelling in 2019.
