Bungie has announced the release date for Destiny, the upcoming first-person shooter RPG that combines single player and multiplayer elements to forge one vast open-world experience. The game will be released globally on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

In a post on the official Bungie website, Bungie’s community manager wrote about the game and the high expectations for it.

“We promised to redefine what players should expect from a Bungie game. We said we wanted to change the way people play games together. We set our bar high. For us, Destiny represents a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Destiny will also feature a beta starting in the summer of 2014, and it will come first to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners.
