Bioware has released the first gameplay footage of Mass Effect: Andromeda at today’s The Game Awards, which you can check out below.

Much of the moment-to-moment gameplay will be familiar to long-time fans of the series, with third-person, squad-based gunplay and use of biotics at the forefront of the action. As previously announced, the game will also reintroduce vehicular exploration in the Nomad, an updated version of the original game’s Mako, which looks as fun as ever. In addition, the player-guided dialogue synonymous with the game will return in much the same format as ever.

Although Andromeda represents a new beginning for the series from a narrative perspective, the gameplay appears to be expanding upon what came before, rather than reinventing it, and that is no bad thing.

OnlySP will be following Mass Effect: Andromeda closely in the lead up to its launch in Spring 2017.
