We were planning to get some original gameplay footage of the recent Xbox 360-exclusive Dead Space 3 demo up for you guys, but for whatever reason, my capture device felt like smoking some highly unstable substances while recording, and as a result, the footage was scrambled. We’ll certainly make sure this happens less in the future, but for now, here’s someone else’s playthrough of the demo.

The demo is about half-an-hour long and follows stalwart hero Isaac Clarke as he treks across the frozen landscape of the planet he’s crashed on, eventually encountering his partner Carver and going up against a giant drill, among other things. All the familiar gameplay elements of the series are here, along with an expanded upgrade system for weapons that allows you mix and match parts and even build some of your own. Check it out below and leave us your thoughts. If you’ve played the demo, how do you feel it compares to previous Dead Space titles?

Dead Space 3 releases Feb. 5 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, and is on our Big 12 list.
