THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games have shown off the first Darksiders III gameplay since the game’s announcement last May.

The quality of the new footage suggests that the game is coming along nicely, and Darksiders fans get even  can feel assured by that. Though the clip is only about two minutes long, it highlights some stellar enemy designs, as well as classic Darksiders combat.

The combat appears familiar without seeming stale thanks to new protagonist Fury. Her whip is capable of offering acrobatic techniques, as well as providing this third horseman (following former series heroes War and Death) with a greater range to her attacks.

Not much word is given in the trailer regarding a release date or story information beyond a reminder of the game’s 2018 release target.

In a separate announcement, the studio has revealed that the premise of the game will see Fury battling demons and other creatures on an overrun Earth.

Gunfire Games is comprised of many veterans from the original Darksiders development team, Vigil Games. The upcoming title looks to be in good hands, and the familiar yet different gameplay in this new trailer serves as a nice update for the fans who have some questions.

Darksiders III was originally announced this past May and Gunfire Games seems to have been whipping up something great since then. For more updates on Darksiders III, Gunfire Games, THQ Nordic, or the third horseman, keep up with OnlySP on Twitter and Facebook.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
