Gunfire Games has finally announced what they’re working on and it’s probably not what you were expecting.
Polygon has revealed that the Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition will be arriving on the PS4 and Xbox One this winter and is in development at Gunfire Games, whose staff primarily worked on the Darksiders franchise before THQ went under.
The Deathinitive Edition of the game will include all of the previously released DLC, which includes:
the Maker Armor Set, The Abyssal Forge, The Demon Lord Belial, Death Rides, Angel of Death, Deadly Despair, Shadow of Death, Mortis Pack, Rusanov’s Axe, Van Der Schmash Hammer, Fletcher’s Crow Hammer, Mace Maximus and Argul’s Tomb.
In addition to the added content, Darksiders 2 has received a pretty hefty make over. The game now runs at full native 1080p resolution, has better lighting, character and environmental graphics and plenty more.
From the Polygon interview:
“We had to go through and relight the whole game with more dynamic shadows andhigher resolution textures,” he said. “Pretty much everything in the game had higher resolution assets already available.”
Nordic Games, who now owns the Darksiders franchise, has big plans for it, but isn’t ready to announce anything regarding Darksiders III just yet. You can probably assume that if Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition sells marginally well, you can probably expect Darksiders III sooner rather than later.
