The Light Keeps Us Safe, by Big Robot Ltd (The Signal from Tölva), has received a new Early Access update that the developer has pitched as “an opening up of options.”

The new content consists primarily of a new biome—a fiery, ash-strewn landscape—and a handful of new traps and compounds.

A small number of bugs and balancing issues have also been addressed.

The reason the team has pitched the latest update as “an opening up”, according to the announcement post, is that no further Light mechanics are set to be included in future updates.

However, on Twitter, the developer clarified the matter, writing that another Light type is still planned. The mixed messaging arises from an assertion that the intended new type ” doesn’t work well,” so the team is “looking at something else.”

The Light Keeps Us Safe‘s next major update is expected to bring it near to a finalised product, but the developer has set no timeframe for that.

The game entered Early Access on October 11, 2018, with a view to release in full in March 2019.
