Remedy Entertainment has spoken about the main themes of its upcoming title Control.

In an interview during IGN’s E3 live stream, game director Mikael Kasurinen discussed the theme of isolation.

“Isolation was definitely an aspect of what we wanted this to feel like; that you’re kinda locked into this place with an unsettling strange force that has corrupted and taken over almost every other human.”

Communications director Thomas Puha also spoke about mixing the mundane with the extraordinary: for example, the player throws filing cabinets at supernatural enemies.

The Metroidvania genre was a point of inspiration when developing the world. The game has several locations that can only be entered upon returning with different abilities.

Control will be available on August 27, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Rhain Radford-Burns
Rhain discovered a long time ago that mixing one of his passions (video games) with the other (writing) might be a good idea, and now he’s been stuck in the industry for over six years with no means of escaping. His favourite games are those with deep and captivating narratives: while it would take far too long to list them all, some include L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.
