Following Command & Conquer‘s unpopular transition to the mobile platform, EA has announced two HD versions of the most popular entries in the series: Command & Conquer and Red Alert.
The Command & Conquer: Remastered comes with all of the expansions: Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath. Developed by Petroglyph Games, who are made up of a lot of developers from Westwood, the announcement came via a rather candid video from the team:
EA producer Jim Vessella commented on the series return, explaining that the “past few weeks have been surreal”:
“[The remaster] includes many of the original developers from Westwood Studios, and some of the most influential members of the original Command & Conquer development team from 1995. […] On a personal note, I can tell you the past few weeks have been surreal. During my first visit to Petroglyph, I was able to brainstorm ‘C&C feel’ with [Bostic], sit with [Klepacki] and hear him recite Commando lines, and gab with [Tall] about whether we should fix the Tib Dawn Harvester AI.”
No release date has been teased as of yet. Thanks again, Shinobi.
