Calling all Prince of Persia fans; grab some Kleenex. As it turns out, the PoP title that Climax Studios listed on their site a few days ago was nothing more than a prototype that was shown to Ubisoft, and any work on the title ceased shortly after.

A representative of the developer named Simon recently spoke to PlaystationLifestyle, stating the following in regards to the two titles that were posted on Climax’s site ‘resume’:

The screenshots in question are from a prototype we decided to create last year during exploratory discussions we had with Ubisoft. This never went any further.

The other title is a Climax game in early development – more news soon.

In other words, the Prince of Persia title was effectively scrapped and will probably never see the light of day. It leads one to wonder why they didn’t just label it as a cancelled project when posting the screenshots. The unnamed horror title is still in production, possibly for the PS4 seeing as Climax is working with the hardware.

There is something good to take away from this, however. The mere fact that Climax and Ubisoft were in discussion about a Prince of Persia title means that the publisher hasn’t forgotten the franchise and they may aim to release another entry in the series in the near future.
