As we mentioned in a previous post, CD Projekt Red is leaving the Witcher series behind for a time and turning their eyes forward…much forward, to a project called Cyberpunk 2077. And, as reported by allgamesbeta.com, we may have a chance to play the new title sometime next year.
According to the site, a “reliable source close to the Polish developer and Gamereactor Germany” verified that Cyberpunk 2077 should hit store shelves in “late 2016.” The original reveal can be seen here, though it’s in German, so get that Google Translator ready (or, if you’re like me, blow the dust off your high school German).
All we know of the game is its sci-fi, cyberpunk setting, that it’s an RPG based on the work of Mike Pondsmith, that it’ll be much bigger than Witcher 3, and whatever we can gleam from its rather bizarre (and a little disturbing) trailer we saw waaaay back in 2013. This is no surprise since CD Projekt Red has been working diligently on the Witcher 3 and the numerous DLC and expansions for the title that won Game of the Year at the Video Game Awards 2015.
You can follow the game’s production at its website. As always keep your eyes on OnlySP for more details about this and all your other favorite single player experiences and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@Official_OnlySP).
