Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Konami has released Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Android and iOS completely unannounced.

According to the title’s description on the Google Play Store, the game is a full port featuring all of the original graphics and music. Support for external controllers has also been included, alongside a “new continue feature.” Castlevania: Symphony of the Night costs US $2.99 on both platforms and is available worldwide.

The classic PlayStation platformer first released in 1997 and sees players hunt down a resurrected Dracula. Taking influence from Metroid, the game featured more exploration-based gameplay as well as greater variety in terms of weapons and abilities.

The game proved to be incredibly influential, leading to several sequels and similar titles from other developers. Director Koji Igarashi launched a spiritual successor in the form of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night in 2019. OnlySP’s Daniel Pereira felt that “the level of quality that is present in [the game] is truly astounding.”
