Thanks to Game Informer via IGN, we now have word that Sledgehammer Games’ original project for the Call of Duty franchise was to be a third person shooter set in the Vietnam War. This project was originally created before development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Which Sledgehammer Games helped develop alongside Infinity Ward) and has since been scrapped.
The demo was around 15 minutes long and fully playable, and contained set pieces and moments that are “not something (the studio) could do in first-person” and feature horror-style moments similar to “some Dead Space moments. It was going to be a fresh take on war, that’s for sure.”
Sledgehammer Games is currently working on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 and will be out on November 4th of this year.
