Call of Cthulhu, the upcoming first person investigation game by developer Cyanide Studios, has recieved a new trailer for E3 that is drenched in eldritch atmosphere.

Continuing this year’s industry trend of adopting the Lovecraftian mythos, Call of Cthulhu looks as though it borrows heavily from the psychological aspects of the subgenre, foregoing combat for rewarding exploration and investigation. Players will not fight the cosmic horrors of the game directly, but will instead tiptoe around madness itself.

Gameplay-wise, the project takes a page straight out of Amnesia: The Dark Descent‘s rule book, focusing on first-person atmosphere and evasion.

A few locations are shown off, too, including a washed up seaside town, a delapitated mansion, and some spooky, all too Lovecraftian caves. The full trailer can be found below:

Call of Cthulhu will be releasing in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
