If you were hoping for the original Gears of War trilogy to go backwards compatible as much as I was, then today’s your lucky day.

If you purchase the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and play online between August 25th (launch day) and December 31st, 2015, you’ll net all four original Gears of War games for free as backwards compatible titles. Yes, Judgment is included.

The first Gears of War is playable as of today for preview members via backwards compatibility, with support for the rest of the trilogy on the way when the backwards compatibility suite launches publicly this Fall. Too bad I just picked up a copy of Gears of War 3 the other day because it was dirt cheap. Patience is a virtue my friends.
