Borderlands 3 leak

UPDATE: The leak has been revealed as fake. See the reasons here. Original post below.

Thanks to a Reddit post from user ShineRise1, fans may have their first look at Borderlands 3, and they may not have to wait long for more details.

The original post has since been deleted, but a text-only version is available on Google Cache.

Though the following is nothing more than just a rumor, the information provided today offers a look at the logo for the game. The image also apparently features the game’s antagonist, as well as the reveal date of June 10.

According to the post, developer Gearbox has Borderlands 3 slated for a September 2018 release and will launch the title on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. Redditor ShineRise1 also notes a season pass that will accompany the game and include access to three expansions.

The post describes the game as the “darkest game in the saga” and links to a video showing Bordlerands-esque planets; the video has since been removed from Vimeo (original title and user can be seen on, but some mirrors have been uploaded to YouTube.

In a comment on the post, ShineRise1 mentions that the game begins linear, but players eventually obtain a ship and travel to different planets in the game’s open world. The user stated: “Go to main mission, go to secondary missions, upgrade and personalize your ship, capture signals from space, discover destroyed ships, explore ancient ruins and a lot of other things.” ShineRise1 also mentioned that the game does not feature a battle royale mode, similar to those in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite.

An E3 reveal date makes sense, especially considering the six years since Borderlands 2‘s release, but many of the readers in the comments of the post are not so easily convinced.

At the very least, Gearbox has been fairly open about Borderlands 3‘s existence, and one of the employees practically confirmed another entry only a couple of days ago on Twitter.

Real or fake, OnlySP will continue to look further into the post, so make sure to keep up to date on our Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter for more info on Borderlands 3.
