Borderlands 3 has broken multiple 2K Games sales records as it continues to outperform any of the publisher’s previous titles in just five days.

Take-Two Interactive has announced that Borderlands 3 sold 50% more copies within its first five days than Borderlands 2, making it the fastest selling title of the franchise.

The publisher also reported that 70% of total sales were digital, meaning Borderlands 3 has the highest percentage of downloads for any of 2K’s multiplatform games.

Additionally, Borderlands 3 has surpassed another record for obtaining the highest number of pre-orders and being the publisher’s highest-selling PC game. The title has accumulated more than 14 million hours of content on Twitch.

Speaking on the record-breaking release, 2K president David Ismailer said that  “Borderlands 3’s incredibly successful launch is a result of the hard work and longstanding partnership between Gearbox Software and 2K.”

Developer Gearbox Software is also reportedly expanding its team to “support the game with new platforms,” while simultaneously focusing on delivering patches, free add-ons, and various pieces of campaign DLC.
