Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the Kickstarter Metroidvania project from the mind of Koji Igarashi, has been delayed to 2019.

Igarashi posted an update to Bloodstained’s Kickstarter page citing an interest in raising the game’s quality level. A beta backer demo recently took place and Igarashi wants to make sure resulting feedback was taken into consideration.

Additionally, the PlayStation Vita version of the game has been cancelled due to “Sony’s plans to discontinue the Vita console.” Backers who opted to choose a Vita version now have the option to either pick a new platform or request a refund.

Igarashi recently commented on how he’d like to turn Bloodstained into a franchise, similarly to Castlevania.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
