Bioware has unveiled its new IP, Anthem, at Electronic Arts’s pre-E3 press conference earlier today with a brief trailer.

The new game, called Anthem, takes place in a science-fiction world where a massive wall separates humanity from the threats of the natural world, which includes massive animals, if the debut footage is anything to go by. However, the trailer hints that the humans will venture beyond the wall while garbed in mech suits.

As such, Anthem appears to draw inspiration not just from Bioware’s own Mass Effect series, but also Game of Thrones and Jaeger-based franchises such as Neon Genesis Evangelion. Earlier rumours suggested that the game would be action-based, rather than RPG-based, though those comments were not clarified during today’s revelation.

The game is being developed by Bioware’s flagship studio at Edmonton, which also created the early entries in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, while Mass Effect: Andromeda was developed by the company’s Montreal studio.
