Michel Ancel, creator of the Rayman series and director of Beyond Good & Evil, has teased the long awaited sequel to the latter on his Instagram.
Featuring a bipedal rhinoceros sporting a green beret and dreadlocks, the post reads “Endangered species – now saved – Game in pre-production – Stay tuned!”
Just last week he posted another photo featuring a piglet who many were quick assume was a young Pey’j, a character from the original. An image of a humanoid bearing a shark’s head was posted shortly thereafter, furthering speculation.
With rumors of the sequel as early as 2008, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the series in the 13 years since the first game’s release in 2003.
Playing as photojournalist Jade trying to find the truth behind an alien conspiracy, the action-adventure title featured both puzzles and stealth and found much love within the industry.
Needless to say, there is much anticipation and expectation coming with this sequel. With such a long, uncertain development time, just having this apparent confirmation is a milestone.
Yet until the game is released and fans get to return to Ancel’s world, no one can know for certain if it will live up to the hype. Here’s hoping it is not another Duke Nukem Forever, which had over a decade of development time, but ultimately left gamers sorely disappointed.
