Fallout 4 released rather successfully at the end of 2015, and Bethesda are not about to rest on their laurels going into 2016. A season pass is available which promises two lots of bulky DLC packages, but so far we don’t know a single thing about them.

Bethesda Game Studios are aware of fans’ frustrations and have answered their call on Twitter about potential DLC news as well as changes to the Survival mode.

In regards to add-ons, BGS have announced the following:

“We know you’re ready to learn what’s coming for Fallout 4 DLC. We’re not far off, and we think you’ll be excited”

Which in reality doesn’t exactly tell us a whole lot, but does instil us with hope for the next couple of weeks.

The biggest news to come out of the Maryland-based company this week though is regarding the Survival mode of Fallout 4. Currently this difficulty setting only serves up punishingly resilient enemies, lesser damage from your own weapons/fists and very slow health replenishment through stimpaks and food, with the pay-off coming in the form of a higher percentage of legendary weapons (dropped from a higher count of legendary enemies of course). Having played over 100 hours in this mode myself, I can confirm that is certainly is difficult to begin with, but 30-40 hours in it does become very manageable and maybe not quite as hard as you’d expect.

That is about to change though. Bethesda are about to put the ‘Survival’ into Survival Mode with the following update:

“We’re also doing a complete overhaul of Fallout 4 Survival mode. Food, sleep, diseases, danger and more. Stay tuned.”

This sounds like an adaptation into what we experienced from Fallout: New Vegas where you were forced to eat, drink and sleep or you would literally keel over and face your fate after gradual decreases in certain skills. As it stands, you can go through the whole game without taking a single bite to eat or sip to drink at all. Sleep is also irrelevant, other than to enjoy the company of your companion…

If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you check out Andrea’s amazing tour of Fallout 4’s Boston landmarks.

When we hear any more news on Fallout 4 DLC or this new promised Survival Mode we will of course let you know, so follow us on Twitter (@Official_OnlySP) and Facebook to make sure you don’t miss out.
