Indie developer Monothetic has revealed a new trailer for its stylized isometric shooter, Beacon, which has now found its way to First Access on

Beacon is currently set for release on Mac, PC, and Xbox One, but this first look at the game will help players determine whether or not the rogue-like is for them. The new trailer, embedded below, shows off what makes the game feel familiar while still separating itself from the games it seems to draw influence from.

According to the information posted on, Beacon is fast paced and features a unique atmosphere.

“This First Access release will give you a glimpse into the early stage of Beacon’s development—this is not the finished version of the game, and as such there will be bugs and gameplay issues that arise as you play,” the description reads. “We’re hoping that, with your participation in the development message board, together we can push Beacon towards its final release.”

This First Access posting will be a limited release though, as the developers are only issuing a small number of keys for now, with more coming out as time goes on.

For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
