In addition to Batman: Arkham Origins being announced today, Warner Bros. also revealed that Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate was in developement for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. The game is set to released along its big brother version on October 25th.

There aren’t nearly as many details yet, but what we do know is that the title is designed as a 2.5D Metroidvania style game. It’s being developed by Armature Studio, who just happened to be founded by some of the lead members of the Metroid Prime team.

Blackgate Penitentiary is a renowned location within the Batman universe. The title seems to hint that it will be the primary location within the adventure. This game will be Armature Games’ first original title, as news broke just earlier today that they had been previously working on a now canceled Mega Man X first-person shooter. No further details were given, but as soon as we hear more we’ll pass it along.

He hopes to blossom from occasional to full time writer at some point. If he doesn't embarrass himself on this site first...
