Monstrum developer Team Junkfish has revealed that its upcoming comedic turn-based strategy game, Attack of the Earthlings, will release on February 8, 2018.
Initially revealed earlier this year, the game pits players in control of an alien race, known as Swarmers, that seeks to defend its home planet from the drilling operations of a human corporation called Galactoil. In a novel twist, additional units can only be acquired by killing humans, allowing their bodies to be appropriated and transformed into new forces with unique abilities.
The development team’s debut effort had a strong horror tone, and although Attack of the Earthlings has some themes that may be considered horrific, the game’s mood is inspired by British sitcoms including Father Ted and The IT Crowd. Meanwhile, the music of the game is being crafted by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter composer Micolai Stroinksi.
Originally, the game was expected to arrive some time this year, but an overly optimistic development plan and localisation issues resulted in a delay. Attack of the Earthlings is currently expected to arrive exclusively on PC.
