According to Atlus, fans can look forward to hearing more news regarding its progress with Shin Megami Tensei V and Project Re Fantasy.
Coming from interviews with 4Gamer, Atlus producers Shinjiro Takada and Katsura Hashino hope that major announcements for each of their highly anticipated titles will come in 2020 (thank you Siliconera for translating). Takada was brief in his answer regarding updates on the fifth entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, saying, “We’ll have news on the long-awaited Shin Megami Tensei V, so please look forward to it.”
Hashino provided much more context about Project Re Fantasy, saying that a fantasy RPG was a rare endeavor for Atlus. The fantasy genre is one that he is not used to and that the development of this project reminded him of Persona 3‘s. After his most recent project, Persona 5, he hopes that 2020 will finally be the time when he can unveil his latest work: “I’m also looking forward to it. I hope it’s about time we can make an official announcement, so please look forward to it.”
Shin Megami Tensei V is in development exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, while Project Re Fantasy does not have any confirmed platforms as of yet.
Project Re Fantasy was announced back in 2016 and involves key Persona staff.
