Giant Squid has announced a delay to its archery adventure game The Pathless.

Taking to Twitter today, the team wrote that more time is needed to ensure that the game meets a high standard of quality. As such, the title will not launch until at least the beginning of 2020.

To help alleviate the disappointment of this news, the team revealed two new pieces of gorgeous concept art:

The Pathless was originally revealed during The Game Awards 2018 with a vague 2019 release target. Players will take the role of The Hunter, who, alongside their eagle companion, aims to “dispel a curse of darkness that grips the world.”

Giant Squid is drawing from the rhythm genre to give combat a unique, approachable flair.

The developer previously created the acclaimed ABZÛ, which Joanna Nelius found “throws you into the deep and tells you to swim, but that is what adventure feels like—excitement of exploring the unknown.”

The Pathless is currently targeting a release on Apple Arcade, PC, and PlayStation 4.
