American Fugitive

American Fugitive looks like the alternate timeline version of a Grand Theft Auto that always kept its top-down point of view.

Fallen Tree Games put together a new gameplay trailer to showcase destructible environments, unique characters, and a “massive open world.” Watch the minute-and-a-half trailer down below.

Fallen Tree’s prison-escape love letter is set in the 1980s and puts players in the shoes of Will Riley. Publisher Curve Digital promises “dramatic storytelling and epic car-chase mayhem.”

The classic Grand Theft Auto connections are uncanny to say the least. Thankfully, American Fugitive looks fresh and inventive, even with the clear inspirations. The description on the video gives a general idea of what single-players can expect.

“The game offers a new 3D top-down single-player experience where you can STEAL, DRIVE and FIGHT.”

OnlySP’s “Three Single-Player Games to Watch Out for in May 2019” piece highlighted American Fugitive as one of this month’s honorable mentions.

American Fugitive launches on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on May 21.

For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
