Leaks are abound at the start of the new year. As I said in a previous news story, don’t be surprised. This stuff happens at the beginning of every new year.

Thanks to an eagle-eyed user on Twitter, we may have an official release date for ID Software’s upcoming reboot of the DOOM franchise. According to Amazon France, DOOM is expected to release on June 30th of this year. Since it’s an EU release date, it’s hard to tell if it’s just another place-holder date, which very well might be the case here, but it’s the first actual date we’ve seen listed for the game as of yet.

Amazon France is sort of notorious for posting release dates before their official announcements, so this rumor has some weight behind it. Game Informer’s cover story for the month of February also happens to be for DOOM. We’ll be sharing details with you from that shortly.

We’ll keep an eye out for any announcements made by Bethesda and ID Software regarding the release date for DOOM. I’m not going to bother emailing their PR department for an official answer like the major outlets do, ’cause you know what they’re going to tell me.

Stay tuned for the official announcement of the official release date by following our official channels on Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks, IGN.
