Madmind Studio has provided an update rolling back the earlier promise of a uncensored patch for Agony and revealing the content that will be cut in the final version of the game.
For the most part, Agony will not censor almost anything of what players are expecting to see in the final package, including gore, brutal sex scenes, homosexual sex scenes, genital physics, eye gouging, heart plucking, children’s heads exploding, and much more.
Though the previous list of scenes that will be in the game seems over the top enough, the developer has had to cancel plans for its Adult Only patch for PC. Madmind cites legal issues as the primary cause for the content’s removal, but says Agony’s content will not take a serious hit regardless.
“That content does not affect the game in any significant way because the deleted material that was supposed to be added in the latest version of the patch is from two endings (out of seven) and some scenes that may be unlocked only after the end of the game,” the Steam update reads. The censored content amounts to “several seconds.”
Had the company opted to go ahead with its intended patch, it would have been open to being sued, so the decision to censor the game is a matter of protecting its assets.
Madmind will also be posting a comparison video on May 30, so those following the project can see the one-to-one similarities.
Thankfully, Agony sounds as though it will still be following the same dream sought after from the beginning.
