The Japanese Nintendo eShop has updated, and a new piece of key artwork for Astral Chain has appeared.
PlatinumGames is partnering with Nintendo to bring the action game to the Switch. Both companies have a long history of working together on games including The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, with the latter title receiving a remastered port to the Switch. Platinum is also currently working on another exclusive title for Nintendo’s machine: Bayonetta 3.
Additionally, Video Game Chronicle sat down with Atsushi Inaba, the Studio Head for Platinum Games for an interview. In the interview, Inaba denied that there was any connection between Astral Chain and Scalebound, the studio’s canceled Xbox One exclusive action game. This inquiry arose from how Astral Chain emphasizes the dual character relationship between the twin hero protagonists (which implies co-op or CPU control for the non-player-controlled twin), akin to the main character of Scalebound, Drew, and his dragon companion, Thuban.
Astral Chain is set to release on August 30, 2019.
