Asobo Studio has unveiled a new set of screenshots for its upcoming adventure game, A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Few details can be gleaned from the images, which focus more on the terrifying atmosphere that the developers are trying to achieve. All of the screenshots are taken within the game’s portrayal of the French countryside, and seem to show a progression as the protagonists stumble across the remnants of a battle littered with corpses and hulking trebuchets.

Each of the environments is fog-laden, and several are clearly populated with the rats that form one of the core adversaries within the journey.

Players will assume the role of Amicia, a girl made destitute by the war in France, who takes her younger brother on a quest across the country to safety while beset by the threat of war, the Black Death, and the swarms of rats.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is currently targeting release some time in 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
